Emmett Technique: has been developed by Ross Emmett. He found that through the strategic application of a digit in either a hold or a switch on a muscle or muscles could bring about a neuromuscular release encouraging the muscle to let go of a protective state.
Emmett can be used on anyone and unlike Bowen it can be used as a standalone treatment or incorporated into a remedial massage.

Why did I choose to study Emmett?
Through many years of competing and suffering impact injuries I have tried remedial massage, acupuncture, Bowen, physiotherapy and chiropractic. While all have provided relief it was not until I returned to Australia after a sever crash and meet an Emmett/remedial massage therapist in Gympie who treated me with remedial massage and Emmett. I was amazed that I felt an increase in balance and lighter feeling in my legs post treatment. I was also pleased to see that the muscle on my right knee had crept back down my leg. I was then able to replicate one of the moves on my knee to continue the process.
So far I have studied to level 6. Ross places a large emphasis on assessing the psoas and through his method of hold and switch providing a multitude of different ways to release the psoas.
